Simyra
Overview
Simyra is a legal-tech startup founded by former city lawyer Nihaal Khanna. Nihaal initially asked us to help him with a financial model. Later, we also provided advice when investor negotiations were ongoing.
Approach
We initially had a two hour call with Nihaal to understand the business plan and model. As the timeline available was short, we set to work on a simple three-statement financial model (P&L, balance sheet and cash flow forecast), plus unit economics metrics. We aimed to keep the model simple to allow Nihaal to amend the key assumptions himself. We were able to provide him with a working model within one week of starting the engagement.
Outcomes
Once the model was completed, we had a call with Nihaal to walk him through it. With a functional model allowing him to see the outcome of changes to his revenues and profits, he was able to further amend his business plan and model. He decided to change how the pricing would work, which actually simplified the proposition to customers.
Because our initial support helped him lay a good foundation, Nihall also turned to us later in the process during various investor negotiations.
With our help, Nihaal went on to raise £200k in Simyra’s seed round, which was £50k oversubscribed.
